Without a doubt, Pinterest can be a fantastic traffic generator for bloggers, but if you’re just starting out or don’t have many followers, it can be difficult to gain traction there. Group boards are the best way I’ve found to grow traffic and followers on Pinterest because they expose your content to more people than you could reach on your own.

How to grow your blog's traffic using Pinterest group boards | Chronic Illness BloggersIf you’re on Pinterest, you definitely want to join the Chronic Illness Bloggers’ group board if you haven’t already. You can submit your request to join to CIB founder Julie Ryan.

But there are lots of other group boards in the chronic illness genre (and other genres), too. An easy way to find them is to search Pin Groupie. From there, you can get a sense for which boards are the most active based on their number of followers, collaborators and pins.

Sometimes it can be a little tricky to figure out how to request membership to a group board. I will typically read the group’s description to see if the owner included joining instructions. If not, I will click on the group’s members, find the owner and send her/him a message to introduce myself and my blog and ask for permission to join.

Don’t get disheartened if you don’t get a response – that’s common, based on my own experience – but I continue to seek out new group boards because they are so great for exposure.

As usual, here are some links to help you get started with Pinterest group boards:

There isn’t a chronic illness category on this list, but I know some of CIB’s bloggers write about more mainstream topics, like beauty, fashion, health, etc., and this list includes those and many others!

Similar to Pin Groupie, this is another good resource for finding boards!
