Each week we are highlighting a different Chronic Illness Bloggers’ member as our ‘Blogger of the Week‘. As well as getting to know each other better, we hope that you enjoy this series and that you find the interviews with each member to be insightful and helpful.
This week our blogger of the week is Gabriel of At Treasures On The Sand.
1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a writer, storyteller, and chronic pain warrior. My journey with chronic pain began in November of 2013 and has continued to be a daily struggle, but I depend on my Heavenly Father to give me the strength from day to day to overcome this terrible illness. As a storyteller, I write to explore my own life through story and invite others to join me as we take this path together.
2. What is your blog called and how do you define your blog’s purpose?
At Treasures On The Sand, I try to encourage others through stories, information, and my own personal experiences.
3. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I have only been blogging for only a few months. I started because I came to the point where I felt the Lord leading me to use the gift of writing He gave me to help encourage others who have the struggles I do on a daily basis.
4. How often do you post? What made you decide to post on this schedule?
I try to post as often as possible, at least three times a week, depending on how I am that week. I believe that all of us who suffer from chronic pain need to be heard and show others that we are not the boy who cried, “Wolf!” This “wolf” is very real and needs to be dealt with. That is why when I came across this schedule, I was very eager to be a part of it.
5. Do you feel blogging has benefitted you? If so, how?
Yes, because it is an escape for me and a way I can help encourage others with chronic pain through my own experiences and stories I have written.
6. Why do you feel it’s important to blog about chronic illness?
People need to know that what we suffer through is very real. They cannot understand things that they cannot see or do not experience themselves.
7. What are your top 3 blogging tips for other bloggers?
I’m still sort of new at this, but here is one I would definitely share with other bloggers. Share your heart.
