I’m Sick And So Are You
In the fall of 2012 I became one of the 900 people a year in the U.S. diagnosed with a desmoid tumor. After one surgery, one month of physical therapy, one recurrence, one year of Tamoxifen, three months of Gleevec, one year of Nexavar, and countless doctor visits and MRIs I find myself forever changed. Priorities have been shifted in ways that only serious illness can accomplish. I see the world through an entirely new set of eyes and I’m more conscious of how fleeting this wisdom can be. By writing about my experience I hope to document and process all I’ve learned, share it with others, and have a laugh or two or twenty-seven along the way.
