Laughing while you’re crying
i write about life with a rare brain condition (Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension/IIH) and chronic migraine. Ilove to talk about how I manage to live a mostly happy life with a positive mindset, despite debilitating neurological conditions. I’m Mum to 2 boys and have been happily married to my best friend Joel, since 2003. I was a primary school teacher and I loved my job. I had worked my way up to senior leadership, before falling very poorly in January 2014 and having to end my career. I loved life and led an active and busy life; doing a varied range of things I loved. I have always loved books and writing and have written poetry since a teen. I also took silversmithing classes and found a love for making jewellery. Unfortunately, I can no longer do most of these things. but I do still love making jewellery and I write poetry often, even selling some of my work. This is the story of how one day my life changed into a life of fighting to do a little, fighting for treatment and for understanding for me and about me. I write about how I cope with multiple brain and skull surgeries and how debilitating my conditions are. It’s about learning how loved I am, by the people that matter and how I have become resilient, strong and determined, with the help of a positive mind set and a whole lot of love. I hope that readers will find reassurance and hope or even pick up some practical advice. This is a journey of hope, despite having to wait patiently as each new challenge becomes a new chapter.
