Today the lovely Amber from Rubye Dreams puts Posture Pump Neck Pump to the test to see if it could benefit her chronic neck stiffness and back pain. This post is a sponsored review in collaboration with Posture Pump-and Amber’s opinion is 100% her own.

Posture Pump: An Introduction

A few weeks ago, I was given a Posture Pump Neck Pump to try out for the Chronic Illness Bloggers website. I did quite a bit of research before the device was sent to my home which made me really excited to receive it. I have dealt with neck stiffness and back pain for years and while chiropractic adjustments and massages do help, they can be very expensive over time. I was thrilled to see that there are several chiropractors who use the Posture Pump for themselves, their families, and also recommend to their patients who are looking for additional or alternative care plans.

The model that I tried is called the Posture Pump® Dual Disc Hydrator® (Model 1400-D). It is a Dual Disc Hydrator which decompresses joints and hydrates discs as it aligns vertebra into their natural curved shape. It is advertised to relieve neck pain, stiffness, headaches and disc bulging. So, does it work?

Before even trying the Neck Pump, I was impressed to see solid evidence that the device is pretty effective. Through their website and other testimonials I found on the internet I was able to see images of  MRIs that showed impressive results after just one twenty minute session with the Neck Pump by Posture Pump. (You can also find actual studies and research for the Posture Pump products on their website.) Needless to say, I was very eager to try this product out for myself and I was hopeful that this could be something that could help me in my journey with chronic illness.

Unboxing the Posture Pump Disc Hydrator

It arrived in a very nice box full of great information and I eagerly read through all of the material they sent. I wanted to try it out right away. I even went to Posture Pump’s YouTube channel to watch the tutorial to ensure I was doing it correctly. To be honest, it’s a bit odd to first try. I have never used anything quite like this device so there was a learning curve to get through.

After reading all of the directions and watching the tutorials I went ahead and tried the Neck Pump myself. It was a bit awkward and I questioned whether or not I was doing it correctly as I lay there on my yoga mat with a strap against my forehead and a blue pump in my right hand.

Using the Posture Pump

I kept reminding myself to calmly breathe through the exercise and not to rush, like I had read in the instructions. As I began to pump, I could feel my neck move into a stretched position. It was slightly uncomfortable at certain moments, but never painful. I continued to increase the pumps until I felt I was at my best comfort level. Each session can be up to twenty minutes, but I decided to stop after ten because it is suggested to only go as long as you feel necessary especially during the first use.

After the first use, I was astonished at how my range of motion in my neck had improved after just ten minutes. I even felt as if I was slouching less and had less pain in my neck  and shoulder area. I was really eager to continue using it. I immediately recognized an opportunity for me to incorporate the Neck Pump into my self care routine.

Over the next few days I developed a really nice routine and made this new exercise a part of my daily mindfulness routine. As suggested in the instructions, I started with a warm up for my neck. I even used essential oils and put relaxing meditation music on to help me loosen up. During the exercise with the Neck Pump, I practiced mindful breathing and meditated throughout the duration of the exercise. Not only would my neck and shoulders feel good after each use, but I was able to take a moment for myself and purposefully center myself.

Posture Pump Disc Hydrator: Does it Work?

Over the next few weeks, I continued this practice and I’ve been more than impressed in how much of a difference this new device has made with my neck mobility and overall pain.  I have not been able to find anything else like this product and it really does work. I think the key to getting the most out of the Neck Pump and to ensure regular use is to create a healthy routine around it. I use mindfulness to help me cope with chronic illness and it was very helpful to have another tool that fits easily into my normal routines.

Overall I think the Posture Pump Neck Pump is a great and innovative product for anyone suffering with neck pain. There are a few cautions listed on their website regarding certain conditions that would restrict people with certain conditions from using it, but aside from those conditions I think it is a great product for anyone looking for help with neck pain, stiffness, or low mobility.

Very interesting! I’ve had chronic neck pain for four years and I’m always trying new things to get relief. Do you think this would also help shoulder pain? Thanks for reviewing!
