Chronic illnesses can make even the most simplest of tasks a challenge and it can leave many of us unable to keep up with the demands that full-time work requires. Fortunately, there are many opportunities now that can allow anyone with chronic illness to still work and earn a living, even during flare ups. Below are some ways you can earn money whilst dealing with a chronic illness.

Get a work from home job

Having a job that allows the flexibility of working from home can do wonders. You don’t have to face commuting or any physical difficulties that can come with many full time jobs and there are so many skills you can learn which will enable you to earn a good living working from home.

To find work from home jobs, you can apply for them on websites like Indeed and LinkedIn and look for ‘remote work’ roles. Alternatively, you can take matters into your own hands and start offering your services online as a freelancer or even starting your own business from home. Below I’ll list some example jobs that you can do working from home.

Freelance Writing

Writing is always in demand for many companies and if you’re a fan of writing, this can be the perfect job for you. To get started, you can start a blog or offer to contribute guest posts on websites for free to build up your experience. Then, start applying for writing gigs on websites such as Fiverr or Upwork. Once you’re established enough, you can then start your own website offering your services and get clients attracted to you.

Start a blog

Starting a blog is another great way to get into freelance writing and you can earn money on the side at the same time. Blogs offer many revenue paths such as sponsored posts, advertising and placing affiliate links within your articles. You can blog about any niche that interests you! Just stay committed to uploading posts on a regular basis and engaging with other bloggers and you’ll build up a following in no time.

Online Surveys

Completing online surveys and tasks is a great way to earn extra money on the side. The great thing about doing this as a side hustle is you can fit it in around your schedule. Obviously, the more hours you put in, the more you’ll get out so it really depends on your goals but if you dedicate the time, doing online surveys can give you a nice bit of extra money in your pocket.

Working as a Virtual Assistant

So many companies and small businesses are looking for virtual assistants and these jobs can offer great flexibility. Since many of the tasks will involve admin / adhoc based activities such as answering emails, creating graphics, organising spreadsheets etc, they don’t necessarily have to be done during the standard 9-5 hours so this can be great if you need flexibility in your schedule. You can also base it around your needs so if you can only manage a few hours per day then you can just charge on an hourly basis with your clients.

I hope that this post has given you some ideas for making money from home with a chronic illness.
