Many of the bloggers who are part of the network are content with blogging as a hobby and a way to share their journey with chronic illness. But others are looking for ways to earn a part-time income around their chronic condition. Influencer marketing is a really powerful way for health brands to get in front of potential patients and customers. Let’s look at the different income streams that those who have a chronic illness blog can make money from…
1. Your unique experience is marketable
Don’t feel as if you need to have a huge number of followers-your unique experience, the more niche the better, is what makes your blog a success. A blog that has a strong focus is great this is a great interview with an influencer who has made money from a niche blog about higher education. A unique blog is more likely to stand out and build a loyal readership compared to a general lifestyle blog. Even if you don’t have a huge following, your experiences may be valuable for market research and patient advocacy.
2. Create a media kit
My first advice would be to create a media kit, using a site such as Canva (if you search media kits on there you’ll find lots of free templates) which sums up your offerings. A media kit should include information on your blog and social handles; following; insight into your audience and also information on different services you offer. If you’ve already worked with brands as part of our network then definitely include examples of that too.
3. Create a services page on your blog
One of the advantages of already having a blog is that you don’t need to create a whole new site to mention your services. Create a ‘work with me’ page which includes information on what you offer and how to get in touch. Some bloggers also offer brands different services (see our roundup of different chronic illness bloggers and what they offer) such as freelance writing and patient advocacy. Include information of these too and plenty of links to previous work. If you’re interested in offering writing services, create a portfolio-I use journo portfolio-which holds all of your previous written work.

4. Register for blogging sites
There are quite a few different blogging networks, apps, and Facebook groups that connect bloggers and brands. Spend some time registering and signing up to these sites to receive opportunities in your inbox.
5.Reach out and introduce yourself
And finally, reach out and introduce yourself. If there’s a brand you use regularly or one you follow on social media, why not reach out and introduce yourself? In your email, explain who you are what you blog about. If you’ve already mentioned the business on your blog and social media, send over the links too to show you’re a genuine fan. Even if you don’t feel confident in working with brands on a paid basis, there could be a way to collaborate in other ways-such as writing for their blog or interviewing them for your site.
I hope this post has given you some ideas and inspiration to make money from your chronic illness blog!

Some really great tips as it’s hard to know where to start when it comes to making money with a blog. I meant to do a media kit aaaaages ago but never did get around to it. I’ve found that signing up to sites / Facebook groups that offer sponsored posts or other collaborations is a great way to find new opportunities. The service page on the blog is a good idea too, I might have to add one of those.
